Christmas Seals Appeal

Westcare’s annual Christmas Seals Appeal raises money to assist Westcare Incorporated in its operations to maintain a concern for the control of tuberculosis and support people with a disability. Westcare achieves this aim by employing over 111 people with a disability and currently accommodates and supports people with disabilities.

Every year the Christmas Seals are designed by Westcare employees and children from Western Australian schools as part of Westcare’s popular Christmas Seals School competition.

Westcare has continued to be vigilant in its mission to maintain a concern for the control of tuberculosis both at home and overseas.

Our initiatives have included:

  • Maintaining an active constituent membership of the Australian Tuberculosis and Chest Association.
  • In association with the Australian Tuberculosis and Chest Association and the Queensland Chest & Lung Association establishing the Australian Tuberculosis Research Group to fund research into tuberculosis programs.
  • Agreeing to provide funds for the transfer of data contained on the WA Tuberculosis Register cards to a computerised database.
  • Funding research on tuberculosis in Bali and working closely with the John Fawcett Foundation for Humanitarian Projects in Bali to help overcome the scourge of tuberculosis in Bali which is a major uncontrolled health problem.
